InRoads Survey Essentials

This 2-day, 16 hour class covers from introductory to intermediate material with advance discussion. This class is designed for the brand new user who has never seen or used InRoads Survey before.

The hands-on portion covers introductory and intermediate level functionality. The lecture portion covers introductory and intermediate with additional advanced discussion at the appropriate time. At any time attendees can ask any level of question for the instructor. More often than not the instructor will answer the question and have a dialog about the topic. The instructor at his discretion (or relying on a client advisor) will either address, what might be deemed an advanced question, or not. In some cases the instructor will work 1 on 1 with a student to cover any material that may be seen as beyond the scope of the class.

Each student in the class will receive their own copy of the training / reference guide. This guide has a CD in the back that contains all of the training files for the class so that the student can rework the exercises at some point in the future if desired. The class itself starts out with approximately 2 dozen field files that have been downloaded from a data collector. Throughout the course of the training the students load the data collector files and then utilize the software to fix errors, display base map graphics, create and view surface information, as well as create geometry output from the InRoads Survey field book. It should be noted that this class focuses on the functionality within the Survey tools. There are many additional 'InRoads-based' tools that are only touched upon. The InRoads-based tools are not covered in detail since they are addressed in the InRoads Essentials class, and usually slightly out of the scope of the day to day surveyor. The training presentations used by the instructor are also available on our website for future review.
On the morning of the second day there is a question and answer session covering the material from the previous day. This is also a good opportunity for the students to bring up any other software questions that they might have.
If time is available, and the class all ahead of schedule, a period of the last day can be used to cover any specialized topics that may have come up during the earlier portions of the class.

Students are encouraged to bring their own project data to the class. The class hands-on is typically very structured using the exercises from the Workbook, but if the students complete the required hands-on they can either work through additional exercises in the Chapter Challenge of the Workbook, or work with their own project data. This is a great opportunity to work 1 on 1 with the instructor and obtain valuable project consultation.
A certificate for the class will be issued to the student after the training. This certificate may be used as CEU's or PDH's, and you should check your specific State requirements to verify this.

InRoads Survey Essentials Custom Training

This type of training typically starts with the 2-day, 16 hours InRoads Survey Essentials class, and then is expanded from there.

A custom level InRoads Survey class can then have the following additional components added to the class agenda:

  1. Detailed discussion regarding Surface creation, editing and underlying concepts
  2. Detailed discussion regarding Geometry creation and editing
  3. Discussion covering Profile creation, Cross Section Creation and earthwork calculations
  4. Discussion covering the configuration of InRoads Survey beyond that required for the post- processing stage
  5. Going into the field with your equipment and collecting data. Then bringing it back into the office and post processing it.

In order to adequately structure an InRoads Survey class it is best to contact one of our InRoads Survey instructors and discuss your needs.
