Tech Tip #90 - PI Rounding
- Details
As promised, here is the Zen Dude's answer to an InRoads user's question on solving an issue with PIs:
Hello Mark,
We are using Inroads to develop pipeline alignments and using roadway designer. These pipelines are small and they do not have curves at the PI's.
How can I solve the issues at those PI's? I would like to create this as realistic as possible. At the moment, I have 1-m intervals for the alignment.
Regards, JG
Here is the Zen Dude's response:
JG,
Interestingly, I arrived in Toronto this past Sunday and will be here until next Friday. I'm teaching a couple lengthy InRoads Advanced classes off of Keele & the 401.
In answer to your question, have you tried using PI Rounding? This should help with the modeling significantly.
Here are a couple slides from my Advanced training class on this:
Enjoy!!
Civilly yours,
- zen
