How can I use the keyboard with the Style Manager so that I can key-in the first character of a field code and have the Manager jump to it? I'm very accustomed to doing this in Windows to find files and folders but it doesn't seem to work in the InRoads Managers.

I see a lot of people trying to do this and I have to be honest; I didn't think it was possible . . . until someone else showed me this trick. The trick is that the key-in sort / search / find only works on the item that's in the first column of the Style Manager.
So if you want to sort / search by the Alpha Code put that in the first column. You just grab the header of that column and drag it over until the indicator shows that it will drop into the first position.
Now your keyboard entries will act on that column.
But there's more. If you hit the "C" character the row will jump to the first 'C' Code. If you pause for a moment and then hit the 'S' character, the row will jump to the first 'S' Code. But if you decrease the pause between your keyboard entries, and type 'C' - 'S', the row will jump to the first 'CS' in the list. You should practice the key stroke speed and see the reaction. This speed sorting works with as many characters that are typed with short pauses. Longer pause will be recognized as a new row sort based on the first character.
Of course this works for numbers too if that category is in the first column.
To round out this sorting / searching, don't forget the sorting toggles. If you are only interested in those Styles that are set up for Survey, then toggle that option on and it will only show those listed in the lower window. Survey has the additional toggles to show only Styles that also have either Custom Operations or potential Attributes.
Lastly, the column categories can be turned on and off by right clicking on the header, so you don't have to show items that you aren't interested in seeing.
So there you have it. It can be done!!
