Zen Engineering Types of Books The following materials are written for users of all levels. Some books are specifically written with the new or intermediate user in mind, while others are written for the advance user. As a general rule the advanced material assumes that you have a working knowledge of the basic software functionality. Some of these books are also version specific so be attentive when ordering the books and read the detailed descriptions provided for each book on its contents. You can also download the Table of Contents to determine the exact information covered.

Reference Books

This type of book is the most comprehensive material about InRoads that we have available. It contains information that no other book contains and can include appendices covering specific topics at a level of detail not found within the actual body of the book. Some of these books are designed as a self-paced instructional book and reference; while others are pure reference material. |

Workbooks

These books are a watered-down version of the Reference book. They generally do not contain any appendices and the internal chapter content is thinned out slightly. These books are intended for Instructor-led training classes; however they can also be used as a Reference book and self-paced training book since they contain a fair amount of explanatory content, just not as much as the full Reference guides. |

Survey Guides

This type of book addresses the post-processing of survey field data. They focus on the specific Survey functionality of the software and the manipulation of the InRoads Survey 'fieldbook'. These books cover the workflow from the point of obtaining the field files from the data collector to the export of the CAD base map, InRoads Surface model (DTM) and InRoads Geometry Project (ALG). They were intended for an Instructor-led training class; however they can also be used as a Reference book and self-paced training book. To ensure you fully understand the content of these books please review the Table of Contents. These books do not necessarily contain detailed explanations of pure 'InRoads' functionality since their focus is on the core post-processing aspect of the software. |

Quick Guides

These guides are very schematic guides. They are intended to provide the key steps of a process or tool set for someone who may only need a gentle reminder about how to perform a specific task. These guides can be considered to be mini-workflow or mini-detail guides with only key illustrations and explanation required. These books can be in a smaller booklet form for better portability and storage. |

Advanced Topics

This type of book contains InRoads topics that are a little more advanced compared to the content of some of our other books. They are really more suited for a user with at least intermediate InRoads knowledge because these books are written with the assumption that the user already has knowledge of the basic software functionality. Topics in this category introduce some new tools as well as dig deeper into the basic tools demonstrated in the other books. These books were intended for an Instructor-led training class; however they can also be used as a Reference book and self-paced training book. |
