Intro >> ZENware – Prod... >> ZENware Help >> Introduction
The first thing that someone should do when entering the ‘Invention’ industry is to acquire an understanding of the business. The following content was put together so you don’t have to do quite as much research as we did. Reading through the information provided here should give you a nice summary of the ‘product-based’ business, (not from a technical how-do-I-invent-something perspective, but from an administrative / organizational one).
Pieces of the content provided here came from three sources which I would like to acknowledge. These sites have a wealth of information and are highly recommended. You will find links from the sites listed below (and others) in the appropriate categories that follow.
• The National Congress of Inventor Organizations (NCIO). Their homepage is at: http://inventionconvention.com/ncio
• The Product Coach™ , Matt Yubas, whose site is www.mattyubas.com/index.html
Matt’s site has some excellent content as well as booklets that can be purchased that address each specific area of the ‘idea to market’ cycle. He’s also written a book Product Idea to Product Success that can be purchased at his site.
• And by Ed Zimmer’s and the Zimmer Foundation site at www.tenonline.org
The Entrepreneur Network (TEN) is a program of the Zimmer Foundation, a Michigan non-profit corporation that has been providing free counseling to inventors and entrepreneurs since 1988.
And now to close this section out:
While reviewing the provided information, just click on the links and read the content on each page. The material provided below was embellished to include some of the standard practices of Zen Engineering, Inc. This additional information, specific procedures and other valuable links have been added and outlined below.
Before you move forward we would like to give you one last word of advice if you are interested in pursuing this type of endeavor. Take the time to study the material which follows, read a couple good books on the subject, and learn the basics before you dive in head first. The week, or couple weeks of study will not adversely impact getting your idea into the marketplace. And in fact will accelerate it, since you will be more educated in the proper sequence of actions to take and won’t overlook any significant legal points.
